Training Committee Meeting

August 9, 2005

Union County College

Attendees: Sharon Austin, Jo-Ann Craig, Anthony Puzzitti, Julia Torres, Patty Medeiros, Tammi Hussey, Derek Gatling.

Meeting began 10:30am

Introduction of Members

04/05 review. The committee reviewed the previous years training and decided that the Support Staff Training would be the only definite repeat. We will revisit verification training after Sharon Austin speaks with Gloria Green.

05/06 possibilities. Training will provide Alternative Loan Training. We will try to utilize our Lenders throughout the state who are already prepared with useful material. We will cover the differences in alternative loan funding. We would also like to work with the Graduate and Professional Committee for a graduate level training. Sharon Austin will speak with Gisele Joachim about this. We will schedule this in the spring. We will also be providing two novice training continuations. One in fall and one in the spring. We would like these to be PJ and Verification. Sharon Austin will contact Lissa Anderson and Gloria Green.

Survey Committee will be sending a survey to the community of four topics. We will ask that they be put in order of preference. We are currently working on the topics. We may be offering a drawing to the respondents, a gift certificate of some sort.

Easfaa Training Participation. NJASFAA will host the Training at a northern school. Possible dates are 10-6, 25,26,27, 12-8. We will open up the site to the New York City area. We feel that South Jersey can choose between the NJ site or a site in Philadelphia. Jo-Ann Craig will be contacting NJIT, Monmouth, Raritan and Brookdale to check the availability and costs. We will also supply refreshments.

NJASFAA Website Committee discussed the use of the NJASFAA website. How to post messages to Exec Council and how to check urgent messages the morning of our meetings to make sure that are no changes. Sharon Austin will post the minutes, update the Calendar, and update committee members list.

Calendar Committee has set the meeting Calendar for the year and the meetings will be at Union County College unless Julia has an unforeseen problem.
