Welcome to the second edition of the NJASFAA Newsletter for 2003-04 Once again, the Conference Committee put together an outstanding conference; the sessions and gala events where enough to recharge our batteries for the upcoming year. Congratulations to Jack, Gisele, Helen and their entire committee for all their hard work. Of course, a NJASFAA conference would not be complete without the talents of Joe Roberto. Only Joe could have the entire room in the palm of his hand while we relived our old T.V. days and played, “Let’s Make a Deal.” Our ability to have fun has been one of the hallmarks in keeping the financial aid community together through the good and bad times over the past 35 years. Another hallmark of our profession has been our constant drive to find the best ways to inform students and families of how to finance a college education. One of the many means for doing this has been the traditional “Financial Aid Night.” This time of the year, many of us put together presentations and lug our lap tops across the state to impart our knowledge on college bound students and their parents. The information we present has become ever more important in these times of high anxiety on the costs of higher education and as others try to steer families away from the truth about financial aid, the process, and our roles. Good luck to everyone who has an upcoming presentation. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this issue of the Newsletter, especially Heidi Kovalick for the pictures from the conference. The continued success of the Newsletter depends on the many contributions of our membership. Frank |
