Get to Know Your Executive Council

NJASFAA has always been an organization about people. During the course of the year we will be highlighting members of NJASFAA’s Executive Council. I hope you find these mini bios informative and learn a little bit more about our colleagues throughout the state.

Why did you get into Aid?
Post-partum depression – actually, it was an accident. I was basically a stay-at-home mom looking for a part-time, evening job and a friend at The Cittone Institute, Kathy Rachel, needed someone to cover evening hours, so she hired, taught and trained me, the rest is, as they say, history.

Why did you participate in NJASFAA?
Because every five years we get the Grease Band at the Fall Conference.
As a one-person office, it is imperative to be involved and network with others, there is no one in my office to bounce ideas off of and ask advice of.

How did you get to participate in Executive Council/as a Committe Chair?
I was asked by Eric Locklear to chair the Non-Traditional Concerns Committee and then the following year Federal Relations.

Advice you would give to a new Financial Aid Professional:
GET OUT NOW!!!

Get involved, network with your colleagues from other institutions, you’ll not only have found great sounding boards, but probably life-long friends as well.

Because of my accounting background.

Why did you participate in NJASFAA?
I enjoy working with other people. Have learned a lot from other members of NJASFAA. Coming from a one person office it has given me an opportunity to meet other Financial Aid Directors who are in the same position as myself.

How did you get to participate in Executive Council/as a Committe Chair?
I was recruited after volunteering to help on the Conference Committee.
