Welcome to the NJASFAA website!
I would like to welcome you to the New Jersey Association Student Financial Aid
Administrator's (NJASFAA) website. I hope that you will find it to be a great
resource of information to you whether you are new to the Financial Aid
profession, a seasoned Financial Aid professional or just a visitor.
During the year, NJASFAA will be offering many training activities for our
members to attend in conjunction with NJHESAA, EASFAA and NASFAA throughout New
Jersey. These training programs keep our membership abreast of any changes to
federal and state programs, regulations and policies. In addition, they provide
our members with an opportunity to mingle with their peers. Other training
programs are offered by NJASFAA member institutions so check the calendar on our
website often for upcoming activities. As a member of NJASFAA, you will be
notified of upcoming activities well in advance via e-mail so you can make plans
to attend. If you are not a member and wish to become one, click on Member
Services and complete a Membership Application. NJASFAA would love to have you.
Committees are a very important part of NJASFAA and we are always looking for
volunteers from our membership. We have committees that provide training to our
new and existing members (Novice Training and Training). A committee that
provides up to date information to our membership on what is happening on the
federal as well as state landscape (Government Relations) and is charged with
playing an active role in getting NJASFAA's name and viewpoints out to them i.e.,
legislative breakfast's, e-mail campaigns, etc.. The Conference Committee plans
our fall and spring conferences. Our College Goal Sunday Committee plans our
one-day event in conjunction with NASFAA and the Lumina Foundation, in February
each year, where NJASFAA members volunteer at several sites around New Jersey to
assist families with completing their FAFSA's. These are just a few of the great
committees that serve NJASFAA's membership. If you are interested in
volunteering on any of our committees and you are a member, click on Leadership,
select a committee and then Leadership. The name of the committee chair(s) are
listed. Please contact them about joining their committee. They would love to
have you join them. Bring your good ideas and willingness to roll up your sleeves.
Our website also provides information for High School Guidance Counselors who
are planning workshops at their schools. By clicking on the Speakers Bureau,
they can review a list of FA Professionals that are available throughout the
state that can do workshops at their high school. In addition, our Speakers
Bureau section provides information on FA Professionals available to do
presentations throughout the State of New Jersey.
This is an exciting year for our membership and for me personally. I get to
serve as President of such a wonderful and committed organization and preside
over our celebration of our 40th anniversary at the same time. Please plan to
attend our Fall Conference at the Tropicana Resort and Casino in Atlantic City,
NJ from November 3 - 5, 2008 and enjoy our semi-formal gala celebrating our 40th.
See the Conference section for more information.
I look forward to the upcoming 2008-2009 year and to working alongside my peers
in the Financial Aid Profession. Change is coming at us head on so if you would
like to chat with me about any issues or concerns you feel NJASFAA can address,
feel free to contact me (973)290-4445 or e-mail me at
dwulff@cse.edu.
Sincerely,
Debra J. Wulff
NJASFAA President 2008-09
