Pictured is Gloria Alston, accepting on behalf of her late husband Robert Alston and Dr. Glenn Lang.
The 2014 recipient of the Arthur E. Richmond Distinguished Service Award: Robert Alston With Bob's recent passing, it has made very clear how much of an impact he had on NJASFAA, its members and the students and families he served. Bob was quick with a booming 'hello' and a giant bear hug. He was always willing to help his colleagues, whether that meant discussing policies and procedures or listening to someone's more personal concerns. I am sure he used his same knack for listening with every student he helped in his many years at TCNJ. I have seen Bob in action on more than once occasion - mentoring or teaching - all with great enthusiasm! He was a wonderful motivational speaker and continually gave back to his community. He will be sorely missed.
The 2014 recipient of the Thomas C. Scott Distinguished Service Award: Dr. Glenn Lang As a long time employee of the EOF staff at the NJ Department of Higher Ed (since 1978), Glenn has always been involved with and concerned about the students of NJ. He has been a strong advocate for and mentor to many individuals in his years in higher ed. In 2010, he became the Executive Director of the NJ Commission on Higher Ed and then served as Assistant Secretary of Higher Education, Division of Academic Affairs and Student Programs for NJ Higher Ed, continuing to fight for access and affordability for the students in NJ. He has always been a friend to NJASFAA and has willingly participated and presented at many of our conferences, trainings and workshops.
